CASA Training Class
CASA volunteers go through a screening process and are professionally trained and supported in their work by the CASA staff. The training program is 35 hours, and covers topics such as family dynamics, child abuse, monitoring and reporting about children’s welfare issues, Child Protective Services, the court’s role in protecting children, and communication skills. Volunteers who complete the training will be eligible to be sworn in as Advocates and matched with children in need.
Next Orientation: Wednesday, March 31st at 5:00pm. At the orientation you will meet the CASA staff and Nevada County’s Superior Court Judge. You will hear an overview of the CASA program, be given an application packet, and we will answer any questions you may have.
The CASA Spring 2010 Training will begin with Orientation on Wednesday, March 31st and continue every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00-9:00pm, beginning April 14th and ending May 17th. The Swearing In Ceremony at the Courthouse will be Thursday, May 20th.
