The Child Safety Puppeteers program harnesses the talent and creative energy of high school student volunteers to bring a message of personal safety to young children. Child Safety Puppeteers members visit preschools and elementary schools all over Nevada County and show young ones how to stand up for themselves and how to stay safe from any touch that may lead to physical or sexual abuse. Through the use of age appropriate puppet shows and skits, young people learn how to handle a bully, to trust their instincts about touching, refusal skills and how to deal with peer pressure, as well as how to recognize and cope with physical and sexual harassment.
