WHAT A HOME VISITOR CAN DO FOR YOU?
A Home Visitor will meet regularly with you and your family in your home. You get to know your Home Visitor very well. She supports you, so your family can thrive.
- She can show you ways to encourage your baby at every stage.
- She can help you find community services that match your family’s changing needs.
- Best of all she has time to answer questions and listen to your experiences of raising your wonderful baby. She responds to your needs.
Our Home Visitors offer caring support and information during this challenging and wonderful time in your life. You can count on us, as you and your baby grow together.
HOW DOES HOME VISITING WORK?
Your Home Visitor comes to your home and spends about an hour with you each time. During each visit you share your concerns about parenting. You can discuss your family’s goals and needs. Your Home Visitor listens and can answer questions. She also brings materials regarding child development, child health and safety, or community resources that match your needs.
Your Home Visitor also encourages fun parent-child activities that strengthen and support healthy child development. She can explain how simple activities help your baby explore and grow.
Not only is your Home Visitor a good listener, but she can help you solve practical problems. She can help you enroll in healthcare programs and help you put together a plan to complete your education or go back to work. We can provide transportation to medical appointments.
Foothills Healthy Babies hosts events for mothers and children to socialize. These events are opportunities to meet other moms, learn about child development, or go through our extensive clothing and toy closet.
Visits are on a weekly basis at first. As your family needs less support, visits are decreased to every two weeks, then monthly and finally quarterly. Services can be provided until your child reaches the age of three and in some cases until the child is five.
