FOOTHILLS HEALTHY BABIES
A Home Visiting Program for Western Nevada County
OUR QUALIFICATIONS
Foothills Healthy Babies has operated under the umbrella of Child Advocates of Nevada County since 1997. The program receives funding from the First 5 Commission of Nevada County, Safe and Stable Families Act/CAPIT grants, along with some funding from Catholic Healthcare West and other private sources.
Foothills Healthy Babies is based on the nationally recognized Healthy Families America home visiting model. The Hawaii Healthy Start Project pioneered the Healthy Families America model in 1985. The Healthy Family America model has over 400 sites nationwide and is based on twelve best practice principles for effective home visiting services. Foothills Healthy Babies utilizes and subscribes to these twelve best practices of home visiting.
The Home Visitors use a number of nationally recognized curriculum resources on child development. We also work closely with the nurses at the Maternity Health Center, Maternal Child Health Program, and local obstetricians and pediatricians.
Our staff is specially chosen and trained to assist families in a nurturing way. Please call us to learn more.
OUR STAFF
Our Home Visitors are rich in life and parenting experience. They are paraprofessionals who are effective listeners, compassionate, and have mature judgment. They work well with families and the professional medical community.
Our Home Visitors receive specialized training and continue to receive regular in-service training on an on-going basis. Home Visitors are supervised by the Program Manager who has a master’s degree in counseling psychology.
At this time, Foothills Healthy Babies employs three home visitors, one who is fluent in Spanish, and the Program Manager.
