One 2 One
Youth Mentoring

Why is there a need for youth mentors?
Youth who have suffered the mental and physical effects of trauma often lack the relational support and life skills necessary to transition into happy, healthy and self-sufficient adults. They disproportionately face homelessness, physical and mental health problems, criminal involvement, low education attainment and other disadvantages. However, research shows that a dedicated and compassionate adult mentor can help to offset these risk factors and improve youth outcomes.

Who are One 2 One Mentors?
One 2 One mentors are strengths based, trauma informed volunteers who are also sworn Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). Through weekly visits mentors build a relationship with a youth by offering positive experiences that open worldviews, offer adaptive skill building opportunities and support mental health. Additionally, mentors work with the youth and parent/caregiver to identify and facilitate beneficial services.
